Sure, but I feel like if this was pretimeskip, they would've found some smart way of escaping from the cat instead of running away and being cornered until they needed to be saved. Hell, nami can create mirages. Usopp has his plants with lots of different uses. They didn't even try doing anything like that. Nami crying because she's alone in a strange place? I'm pretty sure this is far from the first time she's been in such a precarious situation, and I don't remember her bawling her eyes out like that before. It doesn't matter that she should now be the strongest and most confident she has ever been. This is all just oda making a point about how the island is scary, and how strong the monster trio is. It's his biggest weakness as a writer fully shining through, which is ignoring a character's development and potential for the sake of saying something else. Or just being funny, and in this case it was both.
