I love that it’s an upgrade which doesn’t in any way invalidate franky’s hard work. Vegapunk is impressed with the build and impressed at how well it does with such a simple power source. It also uses energy that was literally just gathered. It’s not a “here, have this cool thing which I could have given you ages ago but didn’t for no reason” sort of situation. Now let’s see what his coups can do with that power. I like that it's kind of a parallel to luffy's awakening. Kaido said that a devil fruit power awakens when the person becomes strong enough to handle it. Franky could only obtain this new power by having made his body strong enough to handle the energy, powering up in the same way. It's not vegapunk giving franky an upgrade, it's vegapunk showing franky how to make the most out of his own strength. It’s fine if franky gets an occasional handout. Aslong as the final powerup is his own. But it’s cool that it’s atleast from his idol Basically all namis powerups have been this way.

At Western Village, the injured parents are dropped off along with their children as they beg for someone to save them. Some giants try to ask Loki to take everyone elsewhere since the village is currently under attack, but Loki states he does not care and will only drop people off that are on his back right now, like he wants Luffy to do, but he just calls out to Zoro. Thanks to Loki, though, Jarul is able to send a message across Elbaph that the children have been rescued, which solves their hostage problem. Zoro tells Luffy that he needs to take out the MMAs, but he then hears a sound, which turns out to be Sommers shooting thorns at the giants, furious that everyone survived. Despite his anger, Sommers says he can still take the children to Mary Geoise since they are still alive, but he first wants to dispose of their parents. The children stand between him and their parents, declaring they will protect them this time, and upon seeing this, Sommers is overwhelmed with twisted emotion to the point he says he no longer cares about the mission; he just wants to kill them all now. Sanji frees Robin from Sommers' thorns via Diable Jambe. It is revealed that Sommers' thorns can be destroyed using heat. Loki drops off the injured children and parents to the Western Village, as Jarul announced to the rest of Elbaph that all the hostages has been rescued. After Sommers realized that the children are still alive, he arrives at the Western Village to retake them to Mary Geoise. As Sommers said that he wanted to finish off the parents, the children volunteer to protect their parents. As they get in his way, Sommers tries to kill them all, though his thorn bullets are repelled by Zoro. Upon noticing Sommers, Luffy strikes him with Gomu Gomu no Dawn Thor Rifle, a punch combined with Loki's electric power. This results in Sommers being blown into pieces and causes his thorns wrapped around the children to disappear. As everyone notices Luffy's resemblance to Nika, Sommers' mangled body is then crushed by Loki. In the distance, Gaban and Chopper observe the battle as the former recollects the day of Harald's death. In the flashback, Jarul revealed to Gaban and Shanks that Elbaph's "national treasure" Devil Fruit that Loki ate is the Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Niddhoggr. According to Jarul, the Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Niddhoggr allowed the user to transform into Niddhoggr, the "largest dragon in existence", and that the size of the beast form is corresponding to the user's, therefore only an Ancient Giant will be able to draw out its full potential. In the same flashback, Jarul also revealed the legend story about Ragnir's origin: In the legend, Ragnir was once a weapon of the "Warrior God", the previous user of the Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Niddhoggr who once used the hammer to battle Nika.
