Halloween Costume Sale 2021: Squid Game, CoComelon, Stranger Things

Squid Game Enforcer has been the most searched Halloween costume, which reports one million searches for “Squid Game Halloween Costumes” on Google in October. Walmart has just opened what it says is the largest online destination for Netflix merchandise, a home for goods tied to Squid Game, The Witcher, Stranger Things and many other titles. Over the next few months, the retail giant said, products spanning music, apparel, toys and games will feature tie-ins with shows like Stranger Things, Nailed It! and CoComelon. Not even two weeks after it premiered, Ada Twist, Scientist is also one of the initial points of focus.

Items will range from plush dolls and Halloween costumes to bedding and electronics. While it is the dominant player in streaming, with 209 million global subscribers, Netflix has largely relied on a single revenue stream, unlike traditional media companies. It has recently expanded into the video game sector as it looks to diversify. Merchandise, a staple of Hollywood universe-building, is a key part of the growth plan, along with developing a deeper roster of big-ticket original franchises. The company signaled as much recently by making its largest-ever acquisition, buying the Roald Dahl catalog for more than $700 million. Netflix had previously made limited forays into merchandising through physical retail, endorsing a line of Stranger Things fare for Target. A collection of “ugly” Christmas sweaters and other gear launched ahead of the 2017 Halloween debut of a new season of Stranger Things. To celebrate, senior executives at Netflix pulled sweaters over their dress shirts during the company’s quarterly earnings video interview. The venture with Walmart follows the launch last spring of a direct-to-consumer site under the Netflix corporate umbrella. That online store began as a boutique effort, with a selection of specialty items like $60 Lupin throw pillows and Yasuke anime hoodies designed by Hypwear’s Jordan Bentley. “Through this new partnership, Walmart will not only offer products that bring the imagination of Netflix creators into reality, but Walmart customers and Netflix superfans will also find a new, exciting entertainment destination,” Jeff Evans, Walmart’s EVP, Entertainment, Toys and Seasonal, wrote in a blog post. “The Netflix Hub brings together some of its most popular shows in its first digital storefront with a national retailer, and we’re proud to partner with them on this new adventure that will let our customers dive even deeper into their favorite stories and characters.”

Facebook fined £50.5million by UK Government

Facebook has been fined after failing to provide enough important information to the UK competition regulator investigating the firm's takeover of GIF sharing platform Giphy. The Competition and Markets Authority launched a probe into the acquisition in June last year, shortly after the deal was announced, over concerns about a 'substantial lessening of competition'.

Giphy's user-uploaded library of animated images is already integrated and used widely by Facebook's family of social media apps but can also be used on other platforms such as Twitter. As part of the investigation, the social network was ordered to keep the two businesses separate until a conclusion was reached. Under the initial enforcement order (IEO), Facebook is also expected to provide the regulator with regular updates demonstrating its compliance but the CMA said the firm had significantly limited the scope of those updates despite repeated warnings.

NBA Urges Kyrie To Get COVID-19 Vaccine

Adam Silver wants Kyrie Irving to end his COVID-19 vaccine standoff ASAP ... saying it's time for the Brooklyn Nets star to listen to the science and do what's best for his family, the community and his team. The NBA commish addressed the drama surrounding Irving's status with TNT's "Inside The NBA" prior to the start of the 2021-22 season on Tuesday ... and was asked what he'd say to the 29-year-old as he remains away from the team. "I'd tell him to get vaccinated, first and foremost, for himself and his family," Silver said minutes ago. "Next, for his teammates and his community and also for the league that I know he cares so much about." “I'd tell him to get vaccinated, first and foremost for himself and his family.

Next, for his teammates and his community and also for the league that I know he cares so much about.” "I understand that it's not just Kyrie, there are people in this county who disagree with the notion of getting vaccinated. But, at least from everything that I understand, science is firmly on the side of getting vaccinated." Silver praises the "miracle" vaccine for helping the league get to where it is today ... reflecting on the journey back to normalcy after the paused 2020 season and the bubble in Orlando. "I think at some point for Kyrie to be engaged member of society, putting aside this league -- he needs to get vaccinated and that's, you said, that's the law in New York. The law in New York is if you want to play in an arena, if you want to visit an arena, you want to participate in an activity in an arena, you need to be vaccinated." Silver who's in Milwaukee for the Bucks' championship ring ceremony -- says he wishes Irving was in town as the Nets face off against Giannis Antetokounmpo and Co. Kyrie has been adamant against getting the vaxx ... with reports claiming he is standing up for those losing jobs over mandates. Irving could lose out on millions if he continues to stay unvaccinated ... and now that the season is here, it'll be interesting to see if he holds firm to his stance.

Squid Game Season 2 Release Date

Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk has spoken about his ideas for a potential Season 2. One of the most intriguing unanswered questions in Squid Game‘s nine episodes is how Front Man In-ho, revealed to be not only rogue undercover cop Jun-ho’s missing brother but also a previous winner of Squid Game, went from a desperate contestant in the deadly competition to an active part of its execution. Now that the Korean social horror has become the most-watched original Netflix series ever, there’s a good chance we could get another installment of Squid Game sometime in the future. And, while creator Hwang Dong-hyuk did not set out with the intention to make anything past these nine episodes, he does have some ideas about what a potential Season 2 could look like. And one of them centers our complex Front Man… “If I do get to do [another season],” Hwang told The Times in a recent interview, “one [idea] would be the story of the Front Man.” The Front Man is one of the central antagonists in Squid Game‘s first season. Before we meet any of the VIPs who bet on the contestants’ lives with an air of bored glee, the Front Man is our main insight into the machinations behind the horrific game. He monitors the rounds, watching seemingly dispassionately with a drink in hand (a coping mechanism that could hint at his own misery) as players die on the video screen in front of him. He lives in a luxurious apartment within the Squid Game complex where he receives phone calls from him higher-ups and updates them on the state of the games.

When the VIPs arrive in Episode 7 to watch the game in person, he is their host. In Episode 8, the Front Man is revealed to be Jun-ho’s brother, who the cop risks his life to search for within Squid Game. While it’s initially implied that Jun-ho’s brother, In-ho, was a contestant in the competition who was culled in the bloody first round, we learn by season’s end that In-ho is actually a former winner of the Squid Game and now the game’s chief on-site administrator. For some reason, after winning the game and its massive prize, he decided to return to the fold as an employee of the global gambling enterprise. The Front Man is played by Korean actor Lee Byung-hun and is likely one of the most recognizable members of the Squid Game cast for both domestic viewers and those international viewers who otherwise haven’t watch a lot of Korean-language content (he plays Storm Shadow in the G.I. Joe franchise, and has also appeared in Red 2, Terminator Genisys, and The Magnificent Seven). Presumably, a Squid Game Season 2 story focused on In-ho would also follow-up on the fate of his brother, Jun-ho. The last time we see Jun-ho, he has just been shot by his brother (notably, not in the head) and has fallen off an island cliff into the sea below. If we never get another season of Squid Game, it seems fair to assume that Jun-ho is dead. But, if we do get another season, it would make sense to bring Jun-ho back, as he presumably represents one of In-ho’s strongest tethers to his life before he became tangled up in Squid Game. For creator Hwang, who set his thematic sites on wealth inequality in Season 1, a potential second season could use In-ho, and perhaps his brother Jun-ho, as a gateway into the exploration of policing as an institution. Hwang told the Times: “I think the issue with police officers is not just an issue in Korea. I see it on the global news. This was an issue that I wanted to raise. Maybe in season two I can talk about this more.” Apparently, In-ho is a former cop, which is not a detail I absorbed in watching Season 1. An exploration of cop culture is a heavy issue, one that simultaneously has both global relevancy and can be incredibly culturally specific. As an American, I can’t speak to the state of police institutions in South Korea, but I would definitely be interested in learning more about it, especially from someone like Hwang, who has proven himself adept at handling the exploration of complex social issues in a fictionalized series format. Netflix would presumably be up for it as well. One of their other recent Korean releases is D.P., short for Deserter Pursuit, a drama that follows military police assigned to capture deserters. The series has struck up a conversation, in particular in Korea, about the mental and physical abuses depicted as an institutional issue within Korean military service, which is mandatory for all able-bodied men in the country.

Dota2 - Valve Bases Privilege on DPC Points TI10

Team Spirit revealed something intriguing, and it involves the TI 10 organizers! Russian organization Team Spirit spilled some tea exposing Valve’s inconsiderate actions for the upcoming The International. In a Twitter upload by the organization, Spirit exposed their overcrowded room provided by the organizers. The video revealed their current room where they will be playing for the group stage.

Shockingly, the room appeared really overcrowded considering there will be players staying in the room. Fresh news coming from the manager of our Dota roster! @Korb3n shows how the practice room looks like and talks about problems which our players have faced 👇🏻#SPIRITIX #SpiritDota pic.twitter.com/lum1NoDIRp “We can’t even recline our chairs. Just see how close players are sitting,” one member mentioned. Sarcastically, the same player mentioned that they will be getting easier access to food because they were playing in their kitchen. “But you can get food anytime. There is a microwave and so on because we’re playing in the kitchen,” he continued. Additionally, the players also mentioned that their computers did not even have activated windows. Surprisingly, this exists despite Valve giving out the highest prize for TI in history. The exposé continued up to their comfort room where they did not have any toilet paper. Interestingly, one player mentioned that other teams had better rooms compared to them. The team revealed that the rooms being given to teams depended on their DPC points. They told that the team with low DPC points had rooms similar to theirs. They also sarcastically told that maybe next year, the organizers would also base the distribution of food on DPC points as well. “(We) are waiting for next year and I hope it will be better. Maybe they will start giving away water and food depending on rankings too– no DPC points, no food,” they said. As of this moment, PGL and Valve have yet to give a comment on these allegations. This year’s TI has been surrounded with controversies involving the organizers which include Team Aster’s revelation where they divulged that PGL was not minding them despite their call for needs. According to Aster’s LaNm revealed that the organizers did not even provide food which forced them to purchase outside for themselves instead.

Kanye West Yeezy Collaboration With Gap

The Yeezy Gap apparel line is a dream come true for West who has spoken about his admiration of Gap Inc. in the past, sharing in a 2015 interview with The Cut that he had ambitions to become "the Steve Jobs of the Gap." After a partnership with Adidas in 2013 and the continued success of West's own Yeezy merchandise, Gap was able to secure the deal.

Gap is said to being paying royalties and potential equity to Kanye's Yeezy brand based on sales performance of the collaboration. I’m always looking to expand the extensive collection that aligns the hooks on the back of my storage-closet door. I have hoodies that I’ve literally taken off the backs of my ex-boyfriends, from my dad’s closet, from college-football days at the University of Michigan, ones I’ve bought on Amazon late at night because I just wanted a new one ASAP, and even a couple from a former co-worker who told me hoodies weren’t their thing. I love hoodies so much that I have duplicates of some in the same color and size. So my curiosity was sparked this morning when I found out Yeezy Gap dropped “HOODIE.” Gap cleared the photos from its Instagram account in preparation for the drop to make room for six individual posts showing the hoodie in its six colors. Still, the sweatshirt was only available for purchase to those who visited gap.com/yeezy on Wednesday morning where they were met with a virtual waiting room and a survey that asked for some personal information before selecting a preferred size. Only then could people select and pay for the $90 hoodie, which GQ reports will take two to three weeks to ship. While many celebrated the chance to get a hold of the hoodie before it quickly sold out noting that it will likely go up in price for resale on marketplaces like Stock X others questioned why anybody would spend $90, or $70 for kids, on a plain sweatshirt that can be purchased elsewhere.
