Nike Commemorates Chinese New Year With A Dunk Low "Firecracker" Colorway

Nike (NYSE:NKE -1.01%) is continuing its traditions of pushing out celebratory footwear for the Chinese New Year festivities, and one of the entries involved in this year’s lineup is this ultra-vibrant Dunk Low “Firecracker” variation. This commemorative design is packed chock-full of interesting details, all of which are symbolic of firecracker wrapping paper oft-seen during the cultural celebrations.

At its base, the leather underlays are done up with a crisp aqua blue background and decorated with all-over dotted patterns, all of which is overlapped with more decorated leather panels. The latter sees vibrantly-styled multi-colored Nike branded logos and slogans, as well as notations such as “Bang” to further echo its explosive motif. Traditional tongue branding is substituted for an Off-White™ x Nike collaboration-esque banner on the left side, while the right side dons a “Caution Explosive Power” tag. The heel’s usual “Nike” lettering arrives in bright white, and falls against a bold red backdrop. Beneath all of that, the midsoles are given a bone-like finish, while the treading is fully coated in a saturated red tone to match that of the upper’s accents. Additionally, the interior lining usher in more contrasts as they are dyed in black. Currently, Nike China has these dropping on January 27, but expect a stateside release to follow shortly after as well. Want more sneaker news?
