The official trailer Butcher has revealed to Jack Quaid’s Hughy and Erin Moriarty’s Starlight along with the rest of the Boys that he is running out of time and has very few days left due to his weakened heart. Before he dies, he wants to unleash a deadly virus on the supe community and in order to do so, Butcher is teaming up with a new character played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who seems to share a similar goal, wanting all dupes to be wiped out to save humanity. On the other end of things at Vought HQ, Homelander pushes his team to be come “wrathful gods” against protesting humans.
With only eight episodes of the new season, the description reads, “In Season Four, the world is on the brink. Victoria Neuman is closer than ever to the Oval Office and under the muscly thumb of Homelander, who is consolidating his power. Butcher, with only months to live, has lost Becca’s son and his job as The Boys’ leader. The rest of the team are fed up with his lies. With the stakes higher than ever, they have to find a way to work together and save the world before it’s too late.”

The Boy's Trivia

  1. Comic Book Origins: "The Boys" is based on a comic book series of the same name created by writer Garth Ennis and artist Darick Robertson. The comic was first published by Wildstorm before moving to Dynamite Entertainment.

  2. Satirical Take on Superheroes: The series offers a satirical take on the superhero genre, exploring the darker and more corrupt aspects of superheroes and the corporations that manage them. It examines themes such as celebrity culture, corporate greed, and the abuse of power.

  3. Homelander's Design: The character Homelander, portrayed by actor Antony Starr, was deliberately designed to resemble Superman. However, his personality and actions are far from the traditional virtuous superhero archetype, making him a complex and morally ambiguous character.

  4. Real-Life Inspirations: The character of Billy Butcher, played by Karl Urban, draws inspiration from various tough-guy characters in popular culture, including Clint Eastwood and John Wayne. Urban even adopted a British accent for the role, despite being a New Zealand native.

  5. Unconventional Marketing: Amazon, the streaming platform that produces "The Boys," has employed unconventional marketing tactics for the series. This includes releasing fake corporate advertisements featuring the show's fictional superhero team, The Seven, as well as creating a social media campaign with the hashtag #SpankTheBanks, which ties into the show's themes of corporate corruption.
